USF Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence Given Award

The USF Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) Center of Excellence was honored on Feb. 11 in Orlando as “awesome warriors in the fight against Huntington’s Disease” by the Central Florida Affiliate of the HDSA. Plaques commemorating the honor were given to each of the members of the HDSA CoE at USF, including Dr. Juan Sanchez-Ramos, director of the Center; Dr. Cynthia Cimino, neuropsychologist; Kelly Elliott, Nurse Coordinator; Nancy Braswell, social worker; and Dr. Tom Mueller, Medical Geneticist. Building a better practice plan

The USF Physicians Group is the only academic medical center on the west coast of Florida. So when the opportunity to lead USF’s practice plan came up, Jeff Lowenkron, MD, jumped at it. After working for the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group of 1,000 physicians, he considered it a wonderful challenge to help the USF group of more than 400 physicians to function more like an integrated multi-specialty group. USF Research Day is bigger than ever

Reminder: USF Health Research Day is Feb. 24. Tampa, FL (Feb. 2, 2012) — USF Health’s Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation doesn’t officially open until Monday. The rapid success of the 21-month-old Monsour Executive Wellness Center at USF Health has resulted in the need for a full-time physician director to help propel and shepherd the Center in its next growth phase. New faculty help expand Nursing simulation education

The USF College of Nursing’s recent expansion in simulation education took another leap forward with the addition of several new faculty leaders. Marisa Belote joined the College as director of Center for Virtual Simulation and Clinical Education (VSCE), Erik Rauch is director of the Nurse Anesthesia Concentration and responsible for nurse anesthesia simulation, Alicia Rossiter is coordinator of Graduate Simulation, and Brittny Chabalowski is coordinator of Undergraduate Simulation, as well as director for the College’s Upper Division and Second Degree Nursing Programs. State maternal-child health epidemiologist to lead Community & Family Health, Chiles Center
