USF Health dermatologist Philip Shenefelt, MD, will appeared 8 p.m., Monday, March 8, on Discovery Health’s popular television show Mystery Diagnosis.

The program followed Dr. Shenefelt’s patient Diane Dike in her journey to find out why a condition that began with a swollen foot later progressed to her legs turning completely black. Dr. Shenefelt’s diagnosis and treatment were Diane’s last hope in a long and painful process enduring many misdiagnoses, which left her with little hope.

The Mystery Diagnosis crew came to Tampa in September 2009 to shoot the comprehensive interview with Dr. Shenefelt at local television station WEDU. Dr. Shenefelt was reunited with his former patient and her family, as the crew also shot “re-enactment” video at Winter Haven Hospital, where Diane was first taken for treatment. Diane was eventually referred to USF Health.
