USF Health to break ground on innovative Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation

In the future, healthcare will be delivered by precisely trained, high-performing medical teams capable of enhancing patient safety and improving health outcomes. This Tuesday, Jan. 11, local leaders will break ground on the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS), a new $30-million, 90,000-square-foot facility in downtown Tampa.

CAMLS will transform the training these healthcare professionals with creative learning models and simulators designed to help participants learn, practice and perfect complex medical techniques. CAMLS will also focus on designing and testing new surgical and medical devices and technologies in its Research and Innovation Lab.

USF President Judy Genshaft, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and Dr. Stephen Klasko, CEO of USF Health and dean of the College of Medicine, will speak at Tuesday’s ground breaking.

The project, designed by The Beck Group, is scheduled to open in December 2011.
