The newly forged partnership between USF Health and The Villages is a “perfect match” between two unique entities, Dr. Stephen Klasko, CEO of USF Health and dean of the USF College of Medicine said May 11 during the annual Villages Homeowners Association meeting.

He was joined on stage by Dr. Leslie Miller, chair of Cardiovascular Sciences at USF Health, and Dr. Jay Wolfson, a distinguished professor in public health, law and medicine. They spoke about opportunities to harness innovative public health, information technology and medical knowledge to help residents of The Villages live longer and better.

USF Health plans to conduct a major study to examine the health of Villages residents and begin a “concert series,” in which faculty will visit the retirement community to share the latest health tips and meet with small groups to listen and learn from residents. Another goal, Dr. Klasko said, will be to help ensure that Villages residents who are patients in the current health care system have the latest and best technical treatments available for enhanced care.

At the meeting, Dr. Klasko unveiled the website  villages.health.usf.edu, which will connect residents to the many options that USF Health offers.
