Dr. Klasko joins Governor-Elect's health transition team

As Governor-Elect  Rick Scott prepares to take office in January, he’s asking for advice from health leaders across Florida – including here at USF Health.

Dr. Stephen Klasko, dean of the College of Medicine and CEO of USF Health, has been asked to join Governor-Elect Scott’s transition team for the Department of Health.

“Health care in Florida is going through a transformative process,” Dr. Klasko said. “My goal is to utilize the same entrepreneurial academic mindset that we have employed at USF Health and work with the new governor and state agencies to creatively re-engineer the health enterprises in the state.”

The mission for the Health and Human Services Transition Team: to help Gov.-Elect Scott “identify ways to reduce the size of government, lower health care costs, transform the delivery of health services and better meet the needs of those most vulnerable in the state.”

USF President Judy Genshaft will be similarly engaged. Gov.-Elect Scott has asked her to join the Education Transition Team.
