Larry Glazerman, MD, assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of Minimally-Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at USF Health, received the Town & Gown Service Award last month.

The Award, one of the organization’s annual signature projects, recognizes a USF faculty member and/or department who has served the Tampa Bay community and touched the lives of many individuals. The Award was accompanied by a $1,000 donation, presented at the Town & Gown Spring Reception, held April 15 at the South Tampa home of Morton and Sara Richter.

Dr. Glazerman joined the USF College of Medicine in 2008 to help establish a state-of-the-art program in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at USF Health’s Carol and Frank Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare. At one of the T&G meetings earlier in the year, Dr. Glazerman led members on a tour of the facilities at the Morsani Center, an outpatient center built around quality, safety, technology and superior education.

Town & Gown was established in 1977 to help bridge the gap between community supporters in the downtown Tampa area and the work of USF and its faculty. The organization has hosted special guests, acted as USF ambassador to the community and honored exceptional academic departments. Town & Gown’s other two yearly signature projects, in addition to its Service Award, are the New Faculty Tour of Tampa Luncheon and the Book Scholarship.
