(Sept. 2, 2010) — Dr. Kevin Sneed was elected to the American Heart Association, Greater Southeast Affiliate board of directors. He is slated to serve as Chairman of the Cultural Health Initiatives Committee during the association’s 2010-2011 fiscal year. Study could determine if artificial feet give amputee runners advantageAugust 19, 2010Researchers in the USF School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences are conducting a pilot study that will examine whether amputees with specialized prosthetic feet might have an advantage over non-amputee runners. This issue was brought to the forefront during the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing when the International Association of Athletics Federations questioned whether runner Oscar Pistorius would have a decided advantage over other runners because of his prosthetic running feet. Affiliation links physical therapists and dancers, prevents injuriesJune 24, 2010USF physical therapists and physical therapy doctoral students are working with USF dance students to gather strength and flexibility data that will be used by Dancer Wellness Project, a national registry that tracks dancer injury and wellness.
