USF SPTRS Faculty continue their terms of service, to the national American Physical Therapy Association in 2014. Dr. Gina Maria Musolino, Chief Delegate – Florida, along with Dr. Steven Ambler and Dr. Becca Edgeworth serve as Florida Chapter Delegates to the APTA House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is an APTA (national) policy-making body comprised of voting chapter delegates, non-voting delegates (the APTA Board of Directors and section, assembly, and PTA Caucus delegates), and consultants. The House of Delegates of the APTA meets annually for 3 successive days, during which time delegates make decisions on issues that may have far-reaching implications for the association and for the profession of physical therapy. Business of the House follows parliamentary procedure and is conducted through the introduction of 21 delegate-proposed motions, which may amend APTA’s bylaws, direct a course of action, articulate an association attitude on the physical therapy needs of the public or the needs of members, or describe a goal the association wishes to achieve. During the 2013 HOD of the APTA, the House adopted the new vision statement (RC 14-13):
“The physical therapy profession will transform society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience.”
The 2014 House of Delegates takes place June 9-11, 2014 in Charlotte, NC.
