The American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Sections meeting will be held in Indianapolis from February 4-7, 2015. SPTRS will be represented by faculty who will present scholarly work at the conference, as well as those in professional service roles in the organization.
Dr. Aimee Klein serves on the Board of Trustees for the Foundation of Physical Therapy.
Dr. Gina Musolino serves as President of the Education Section. The Education Section is dedicated to the development of each new generation of physical therapy practitioners and is committed to meeting the needs of those concerned with the progress, growth, and development of education throughout a career in physical therapy.
In addition to being part of Journal of PT Education Editorial Board, Dr. Laura Lee “Dolly” Swisher will speak at 2 collaborative presentations: “Reasonable Accommodations for Students with Disabilities: Legal and Ethical Perspectives on Fair Examination Policies” and “Humanities in Physical Therapy: Are We Ready?”
Dr. Rebecca Edgeworth will serve as Assistant Chief Delegate for the Florida Chapter of APTA, and also will receive her American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties certification pin in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy.
Dr. Steven Ambler will present a case as part of the “Complicated Patient” series of the Sports Section. His case is titled “Management of a Patient with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome Following ACL Reconstruction.”
Dr. Douglas Haladay will deliver 2 poster presentations. In the Cardiopulmonary Section, his poster is titled “Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome: A Case Report” and his co-authors are Dr Jill Haladay and Dr Rose Pignataro. In the Neurology Section, he will present “Electromyographic (EMG) Analysis of Hip Extensor Muscle Activity during Common Exercises and Functional Activities in Subjects after Stroke,” co-authored with Dr Stephanie Greenspan and Dr Walter Weiss.
Dr. Douglas Haladay, Dr. Aimee Klein, and Dr. Laura Lee “Dolly” Swisher will present their poster in the Education Section titled “Comparison of Physical Therapy Students’ and Physical Therapists’ Knowledge of Low Back Pain Clinical Practice Guidelines.”
Dr. Seok Hun Kim will present a poster in the Neurology: Stroke SIG Section titled “Patient-Centered Task-Oriented Training in Stroke Rehabilitation.” Dr Jin Uk Choi authored the poster, and Dr Kim and Dr Soonhee Kang are co-authors.
Dr. Patricia Teran-Yengle will present a poster titled “Treadmill gait retraining program using learner’s focus of attention influences joint sagittal alignment during standing in women with knee hyperextension”in the Orthopaedics: Hip/Knee Section.
