Several SPTRS faculty will present at the American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Sections meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada from February 3-6, 2014.
Dr. Laura Lee “Dolly” Swisher leads off teaching a CSM 2014 preconference course titled “Teaching and Evaluating Ethics Knowledge in Physical Therapy Education through Concept Mapping, Moral Reasoning, and other Outcomes Measures.” Her co-authors are Dr. Ian Edwards and Dr. Gesela van Kessel from the University of South Australia (Adelaide). Drs. Swisher, Edwards, and van Kessel are then joined by Dr. Gail Jensen of Creighton University in presenting a 2 hour course entitled “Linking Clinical and Ethical Reasoning in Physical Therapy Education: Preparing Students for the Certainty and Uncertainty of Practice.”
Once the conference is underway, SPTRS faculty appear on the program with numerous poster and platform presentations.

The primary purpose of this session is to engage Orthopedics Section members in a collegial dialog about what “labels” should be used for the conditions that are relevant to physical therapist practice.
Dr. Rose Pignataro will present “Improving Physical Therapy Treatment Outcomes through Evidence-Based Tobacco Cessation Counseling” as a part of the Education Section of the conference.
