Collaborating Across Borders is a combined meeting between US and Canadian Educators. It will focus on interprofessional education, practice, leadership and policy in a North American context. The conference will feature best practices, showcase evidence-based outcomes and lessons learned, and provide a venue for scholarly dialogue and productive networking. The theme, The Interprofessional Journey: Advancing Integration and Impact, will reflect the importance of integration and impact as they play a role in the preparation of future health professionals. It will be in Roanoke, Virginia on September 29 – October 2.
Dr. Laura Lee (Dolly) Swisher was selected to present in a symposia panel discussion titled “Transforming Learning for Interprofessional Professionalism: The Critical Role of Professional Identity Formation and Moral Agency”.
An oral presentation, “Effect of Medical and Physical Therapy Near‐Peer Small Group Preceptors for Clinical Skills and Professionalism”, will feature SPTRS faculty members who worked with the near-peer preceptors in the Doctoring course, Drs. Dolly Swisher, Steven Ambler, Patricia Teran-Yengle, Rebecca Edgeworth, Heather Hartsell, Matthew Lazinski, Megan Heintz, David Ecker and Hugo Narvarte.
Dr. Dolly Swisher will also give a discussion presentation titled “Voices, Faces, and Relationships: Using Humanities to Facilitate IPE with the Rehabilitation Professions”.
Dr. Steven Ambler will present a poster titled “Interprofessional Development and Execution of a Module to Teach Musculoskeletal Examination Skills”.
