School Welcomes Board Certified Specialist in Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Therapy

We are proud to announce Dr. Shayne Tarrance, PT, DPT, WCS, BCB-PMB has joined the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Tarrance is certified as a Women’s Health Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She also holds biofeedback certification in pelvic floor dysfunction, awarded in 2003 by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance.

After starting her practice focused on orthopedics and acute care, a personal injury during childbirth led to an interest in pelvic floor dysfunctions. She began to treat these disorders exclusively and has a caseload that is 100% pelvic floor dysfunction for the past 20 years. In addition to her work with women, Dr. Tarrance began treating men in 2003.

The diagnoses most frequently addressed include:

  • Pelvic pain
  • Prostatitis/erectile dysfunction
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Incontinence of bowel/bladder
  • Pregnancy-related maladies
  • Constipation
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Myofascial pain syndromes

Dr. Tarrance also teaches the pelvic floor/men’s and women’s health content in the USF Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum, and is the USF Health Physical Therapy Center Site Coordinator for Clinical Education. Dr. Tarrance holds two Bachelor’s degrees, one in physical therapy and one in psychology. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2016.
