Dr. Stephenson is elected Vice Chair of the Degenerative Disease Special Interest Group of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy

 

The Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy (ANPT) is proud to announce that Jeannie Stephenson, PT, Ph.D., NCS, Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences has been elected to the position of Vice Chair of the Degenerative Disease Special Interest Group (DDSIG). She will serve in this position for a three year term.

As the Vice Chair, she will work with the current chair to develop the goals for the DDSIG and then implement them with the other SIG board and committee members. The work of the SIGs is closely aligned with the strategic vision of the Academy so she will also work with the ANPT Board of Directors and Executive Office. Stephenson said, “I will work collaboratively along-side other DDSIG leadership to build the membership, develop evidence-based podcasts, further develop the website, and work on other initiatives of importance to the SIG.”

The Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy was formed in 1972 and is one of the fastest growing sections of the American Physical Therapy Association with approximately 6000 members. The mission of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy is to empower our members to optimize movement system performance for those impacted by neurologic conditions. There are seven special interest groups within the Academy which include Assistive Technology/Seating & Wheeled Mobility, Balance and Falls, Brain Injury, Degenerative Diseases, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke and Vestibular Rehabilitation. These special interest groups provide a forum to discuss advances in practice and the challenges of patient care within these specialty areas.
