Aimee Klein, PT, DPT, DSc – Assistant School Director, Director USF Health Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program was recently promoted to the rank of professor. Dr. Klein has been with our School since 2013 and has over thirty years’ experience in physical therapy education. Not only has she been an integral part of our DPT program, but she helped found and continues to oversee our Orthopaedic Residency Program. Dr. Klein’s research interests span clinical research, lower extremity musculoskeletal management, as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has collaborated with faculty colleagues to study the impact of including professionalism content within the Orthopaedic Residency program, as well as neer-peer teaching. She has presented and published case reports with her residents and systematic reviews with her DPT students.
Dr. Klein is also an active member of American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Florida Physical Therapy Association (FPTA), and American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Therapists (AAOMPT). Not only is she an active member, but she has served on numerous special interest groups, and committees in various capacities ranging from board director to member within APTA, the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, and as a Foundation for Physical Therapy Trustee.
This promotion represents her journey within the Academe through three (3) different DPT programs. She has learned from many mentors and has tried to bestow this mentorship to her faculty colleagues. She has been a part of the School’s DPT program’s curricular revision which will educate students to meet the challenges of an ever-evolving health care environment. One of her greatest accomplishments was the development of the Orthopaedic Residency Program. This program has graduated 8 students over the past 5 years, all who have become Board Certified Specialists in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy.
