Day at the Capitol

The University of South Florida’s Student Government Department invites students from across the University to join in lobbying for USF at the State Capitol each year. This year’s event was held on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017, at the Governor’s Club in Tallahassee, Florida. DPT 2018 and DPT 2019 students were in attendance, promoting and advocating for the field of Physical Therapy.

Ms. Dominique Rowe, DPT 2018 student, summarized her visit as an eye opening, essential mechanism in changing current legislature, while remaining focused on patient care and advocacy. During her visit, Ms. Rowe educated fellow colleagues and professionals on the importance and effectiveness of dry needling in Physical Therapy. Regarding her efforts to change current dry needling policies, Ms. Rowe states, “Always be open and comfortable while communicating to legislators what we do in the profession and take time to advocate for things we want as future clinicians.”
