USF faculty member, Dr. Jeannie Stephenson, and two third year DPT students, Logan Brown and Brenna Hogan, participated in the “Hope and Help” ALS Symposium on Saturday, October 8, 2022 in Orlando, Florida. This symposium was sponsored by the ALS Association of Florida and featured experts in the ALS field who provided guidance to people living with ALS and their families. Dr. Stephenson, Logan & Brenna provided resources and education on exercise guidelines, functional mobility, and ALS specific clinics for persons with ALS. They represented Physical Therapy and were among an interdisciplinary team of health professionals and equipment specialists who shared information and products to aid with mobility, respiration, and communication.
Through the annual Hope and Help Symposium, the ALS Association continues to communicate the most up-to-date information about what is happening in the ALS community and in ALS research. This organization shares clinical trials and research that may lead to ways to prevent, treat, and cure ALS. They also HELP people living with ALS and their loved ones and caregivers through a variety of programs and services provided by the organization.
