The University of South Florida College of Nursing continues to be among the best graduate nursing programs in America, according to new rankings released on March 30 by U. S. News & World Report (U.S. News).

The College of Nursing’s graduate programs received high marks for its master’s and DNP programs, ranked in the top 100 among all public and private institutions for 2022. The Master of Science in Nursing program is at No. 56 and the Doctor of Nursing Practice program is at No. 62.

“Graduate nursing programs at the University of South Florida are among the best in the nation,” College of Nursing Dean Usha Menon, PhD, RN, FAAN, said. “This ranking builds on the College’s stellar reputation within the state of Florida.”

Earlier this year, the College of Nursing was ranked No. 2 in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding among public universities in Florida. In 2020, the college received nearly $2 million in competitive federal research dollars.

USF College of Nursing is among the top public institutions in Florida in NIH funding and is ranked No. 34 overall nationwide. The 2020 rankings are compiled by the independent Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research based on NIH data.

According to U.S. News, rankings are generated through “ranking indicators” derived from statistical data reported by each institution. For each program, U.S. News evaluates key areas such as expert opinions in the field, opportunities for student engagement, resources for student support and career success, as well as faculty and student performance, in terms of existing credentials, research impact, and metrics such as student job placement.
