Tiffany Gwartney Honored with USF Health Culture Coin

The USF Health College of Nursing awarded a USF Health Culture Coin to Tiffany Gwartney, interim assistant dean of undergraduate and global programs, for being a fierce advocate for students to ensure they have access to as many learning opportunities as possible.

College of Nursing Senior Associate Dean Tracey Taylor, DNP, ACNP-BC, RN, nominated Dr. Gwartney and presented her with the Culture Coin during a ceremony on May 26.

“Using a student-centered methodology, Dr. Gwartney approaches challenges head-on with student success as the goal. Additionally, she maintains a positive outlook and can-do attitude no matter the circumstance. Dr. Gwartney models leadership and embodies the tenet of civility,” said Dr. Taylor. “Through a time of great stress and uncertainty, Dr. Gwartney has defined herself as an educator, colleague, and leader.”

Tiffany Gwartney was presented with a USF Health Culture Coin during a ceremony on May 26.

Colleagues had more positive words about Dr. Gwartney.

“Dr. Gwartney has provided leadership and direction for not only the COVID initiatives but has been instrumental in the transition of the leadership team,” said Assistant Professor Marcia Johansson, who is the adult gerontology acute care concentration director. “She continues to facilitate meetings with clinical partners and the clinical affairs department for both undergraduate and graduate placement opportunities. She is starting the neonatal nurse practitioner concentration and continues to work on the planning and curriculum.”

“Dr. Gwartney serves as the lead for all COVID initiatives related to undergraduate students,” Senior Associate Dean of Alumni, Community, and Global Engagement Denise Maguire added. “She fiercely advocates for them to ensure they have access to as many learning opportunities as possible and are fully supported by the faculty. She raises challenging topics with others in a collaborative spirit that enables good decisions to be made.”

Faculty and staff who exemplify the values of USF Health are recognized as Culture Champions and awarded a Culture Coin for their outstanding dedication and commitment to upholding the mission of USF Health.
