Student Spotlight: Megan Higbee, RN

Student Spotlight: Megan Higbee, RN

Role: Served one year as the non-voting RN to BS student representative on the Baccalaureate Admissions, Curriculum, and Academic Affairs Committee.

Graduation date: December 2019.

Why I joined: The idea of being able to make a difference for other nurses striving to earn their BS was the biggest appeal. On a personal note, BACAAC gave me the ability to enhance my leadership skills.

What made it special: Serving on the BACAAC was an excellent and eye-opening experience. I had no idea the intense planning and dedication that went into each and every class within the nursing program. Being able to see changes being made and implemented within different aspects of the nursing program was extremely rewarding.

Current job: I am a postpartum nurse on the Mother/Baby Unit at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa.

Why I chose USF: The RN to BS program at USF has been an enriching experience for me. I am able to apply what I am learning in my classes directly to my career. The flexibility of the online program has also made earning my BS an achievable goal.

Post-graduation plans: I am looking into the possibility of travel nursing. I plan to continue my education to earn a DNP after gaining other clinical experiences.
