Dr. Hendricks Brown has been selected as a Distinguished USF Health Professor for 2008! The College of Public Health will be recognizing his achievements at an upcoming College event and we will let you know when the official award will be given by the leadership of USF Health.

As many of you know, Dr. Brown is an internationally renowned expert in prevention methodology research, a field he is credited with helping to develop. Much of Dr. Brown’s research has been in partnership with leading Prevention Research Centers funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Currently he serves as Director of the Prevention Science and Methodology Group, a network of 48 doctoral level methodologists and prevention scientists from 20 universities and research institutions. This team has conducted research that has resulted in significant findings related to outcomes in adulthood of interventions initiated in the first grade and the subsequent reduction of antisocial personality disorder and lifetime use of illicit drugs in high risk groups. In addition to being a talented and prolific scholar, Dr. Brown is a wonderful teacher and a great colleague. It is wonderful to see him recognized here in his own community by his peers. We are delighted to announce this honor!
