William Michael Reid, PhD, MBA, is the lead author of an article describing the development of the Florida Center for Public Health Preparedness using a management framework. The article, “Leadership, collaboration, and effective training principles and practices from a decade of training by a center for public health preparedness” appeared in the January/February issue of the Journal of Emergency Management, Vol. 12, No. 1, January/February 2014, pp. 31-44.

The co-authors are Dr. Lisa M. Brown, an associate professor in the School of Aging Studies, College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of South Florida and Dr. Danielle C. Landis, an affiliate assistant professor in the Department of Global Health and the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the College of Public Health at the University of South Florida.

During his 17 years in the USF College of Public Health, Dr. Reid was the principal investigator for grants and contracts totaling over $18 million, primarily from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Dr. Reid is an emeritus associate professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. The department offers several concentrations that lead to MPH, MSPH, and PhD degrees, and recently launched an online MPH in health, safety, and environment.
