Tampa General Hospital ranked as the #1 hospital in Tampa Bay in the 2021-2022 rankings released this week by U.S. News & World Report, and was also listed among the top four hospitals in Florida.
In addition, several USF Health and Tampa General Hospital clinical programs received high recognition for their strong reputation and performance in the U.S. News Best Hospital rankings.
Five specialties were ranked as being #1 in Florida and highly competitive across the nation:
- Diabetes & Endocrinology: ranked #1 in the state, #28 U.S.
- Ear, Nose & Throat: ranked #1 in the state, #21 in the U.S.
- Gastroenterology and GI Surgery: ranked #1 in the state, #26 in the U.S.
- Orthopedics: ranked #1 in the state, #23 in the U.S.
- Rehabilitation: ranked #1 in the state, #36 in the U.S.
Four specialties also ranked as “high performing,” defined as among the top 10% of U.S. hospitals:
- Cancer
- Geriatrics
- Neurology & Neurosurgery
- Pulmonology & Lung Surgery
USF Health and TGH also ranked as “high performing” in 12 procedures and conditions that include: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Acute Kidney Failure, COPD, Diabetes, Heart Attack, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Pneumonia, Spinal Fusion and Stroke.
The national recognition shines a light on the many USF Health faculty who care for patients within these specialties, seeing patients at Tampa General and within USF Health clinical facilities.
